The history of Glengoyne dates back to 1820, when George Connell began distilling secretly at Burnfoot Farm, on the site where the distillery stands today. Hidden in a small valley, its location provided the isolation needed to keep its early activities away from the authorities.
Over the years, the distillery developed a distinctive approach to whisky maturation. The use of Sherry casks became one of Glengoyne's defining characteristics, contributing to a smoother, richer and more complex whisky profile.
